The death occurred at Rotorua on Sunday of -Mr. Walter Howard Smith, of Sydney. Deceased was seeoud son of Captain Howard Smith, AA-ho founded th«lirm of William HoAA - ard Smith ami Siolis. which over half a century afro pioneered the coastal shipping of Australia, now of such magnitude and importance. The deceased, Avho Avas widely known throughout the Commonw - ea lth, had been ill for some considerable time, and for the past four months had been Staving in Rotorua. where be bad many friends.
