ARMS ACT.
ATR GUXS TO BE CONTROLLED. (Bj- Telegraph.— rariiatnentarj- Reporter ) WELLINGTON, this day. To facilitate the working of the Arms Act nn amendment was introduced by the Minister of Justice in the House today. It will enable tfio privileges eujoyed hy members of thp New Zealand Expeditionary Forces in connection with the possession of souvenir firearms to he extender] to members of any of His Majesty'e forces or near relatives of such members if they obtain written permission from the Minister oV Defence. • The operation of the Act in connection with licensed dealers in arms is the subject of some amendments for smoother working. It is also provided that rifle clubs may obtain ammunition without having to obtain a special permit. The regulations concerning the use of ammunition for sporting riflee not exceeding .22.calibre may be. modified so as to dispose of the necessity to obtain a permit. Licensed dealers must keep full records of transactions in arms and ammunition, and a short but important clause empowers the Governor-in-Council to extend the operation of the Act to air guns.
