' SUPPOBT ASSURED. j The need of an Agricultural College j for the Auckland province was stressed by several speakers at the executive ) meeting of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association yesterday. , Mr. W. Stanley Hill, 8.A., said that iii New Zealand satisfactory provision was made for boys up to 17 years of age, ■but beyond* that it was extremely limited. Lincoln College, Canterbury, had accommodation for about only 25 new students yearly. In the Auckland province practically no facilities existed. ' The question of the establishing of Chairs of Agriculture was recently discussed by the University Senate. Mr. Hill said that ho considered that a , otiheme should be formulated to provide an agricultural college for Auckland. » A small committee should be set up to ° undertake propaganda work. Mr. Hill ■ instanced the Howard bequest for agri--1 ndture in the South of this island an<l : also the Cawthron 'bequest in Xelsou. The lK>g»n Campbell bequest of £20,000 would also 'be available some time for a college here. Major Spragg. as an old student of ; Lincoln College, said that he had always taken a keen interest in agricultural a education. He had visited Hawkesl)ury r (Xew South Wales). Winchester (Kng,l land), and he had also had the pleasure g of having charge of the Turkish College i of Agriculture at Cairo, and he might s»y that the Turks had over r>oo students in that college before the war.
