HOME GARDENS.
» GOOD WORK BY SCHOLARS. For several years the plan of encouraging school children to establish gardens a»t their own homes has lieen adopted 'by some city and suburban ■ schools with considerable success. A report has just been issued by the instructors on home garden competitions held in connection with ■ schools at Port Albert, Hobsonville, Warkworth, Coromandel, Te Awamutu. Te Rahu, Te Mawhai, Albany, Hamilton West. Morrinsville, Taupiri. Rati Rati No. 2, Opouriao. Taneatua. Whakatane. Papatoetoe. Avon- ' dale. New Lynn, and Northcote. This : shows that in each instance a fine spirit ■ was evinced throughout the competitions, the results being decidedly ■ encouraging. The gardens were good, evidencing caro, thought, attention and keen rivalry on the part of the competitors.
