Hughes for the amicable discussion of the industrial situation. In making the suggestion Mr. Hughes said he feared that if some such conference were not held without delay Australia would be in the middle of an industrial crisis. The Federal Cabinet unanimously supports Mr. Hughes proposed conference. Invitations have been issued and it will probably be held about the 14th of February. It is undeTstood that if it proves successful Mr. Hughes »ntends to bring int operation the powers the Commonwealth possesses under the InduslTial Peace Act providing <or the establishment of a council of industrial representatives whose powers will be similar to those of the Whitley Councils in England.—(A. and N.Z.
