DOMINION EXECUTIVE. THE AXNL'AL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Executive j Council of the New Zealand Society of Wine Managers was held in the hotel, luntly. Mr. Goorgo Smith, president, n the chair, delegates attending from nvercargill, Wcstport, Greymouth and Juntly. The following are the name? of the nembers present:—'Messrs. Smith, >resident, Allison, vice-president, Strongnan, secretary, Marris. Wood. Penman md Davis, Mr. Bishop attending on the jecond day. "That when there is a mine manager's position racant any information available be sent to the secretary for the benefit of my member of the society who may require it." This was carried. It was pointed out that the recomtneniation was in the direction of added safety for men filling coal in high pillar ;xtraction works, and therefore could not be contrary to good mining practice, for good mining practice was safety first, therefore the recommendation was in the right direction. The following were elected to the Executive Council:—Messrs. Smith (Denniston) president, Allison (Huntly) vice-president, Strongman (Runanga) secretary, and Marris (Nightcaps). The following were elected to the Executive Committee headquarters at 3reymoutk:—Messrs. Smith, chairman, 3trongman. secretary, T. King ('Millerton), J. Armstrong (Reefton). It was agreed to hold the next annual council ■meeticg in Wellington before December 31 next. The date to be fixed later. Before the meeting closed Mr. Bighop addressed the members on the advisability of the society becoming an affiliated branch of the Institute of Civil Engineers. This was taken up by the council, and it was agreed to collect all the available information on ho subject to be put before the next meeting jf the council, with the object of having Mr. Bishop'e suggestion acted upon.
