ORGAN RECITAL.
Special services were held in St. Peter's Anglican L'hurch, Takapuiia, in connection with the New Year on Sunday' last. There were- large con-gerga-tiom-, and the. Rev. YV. O. Monckton, tbe vicar, preacltcd appropriate sermons. Mr. Paget Gale, tram Dunedin, preside.! at the organ, and at the close of evensong gave a short recital, which was much appreciated. The resources of the fine instrument in the church were fully displayed during the masterly interpretations given of Rttck'n ""Sonata" and Rollins' Overture in ('. I--emarc's short but dainty "Minuet Nuptial.'" was pleadingly executed. specially attractive being the treatment of tlie theme where a delicate staccato counter-melody is added. Saint-Saens' "!>-• ("ygne" was tastefully performed on the soft registers, and 'the solo stops were effectively u-ed in Lemare's IJ Hat Andantino. An enjoyable recital concluded with a telling rendering of an organ arangement nf Handel's '"Hellelujah ( horiLs." During the proceedings Mrs. J. H. dale gave an expressive delivery of Liddle's "Abide With Me.''
