FOUND NOT GUILTY.
AFTER TWENTY-FIVE YEARS. SOLICITOR'S HAPPY XMAS. (Received 11.30 a.m.* SYDNEY, this day. A select committee was appointed tc inquire into the circumstances of Mr T. E. Rofe being struck oil" the solicitors roll in the early "nineties" on a charge of conspiracy, and found him not guilty Mr. Rofe. interviewed, stated: "This is the happiest Christmas I have haci for twenty-fix years." During tlio hear ing of the case Mr. Rofe stated that h( did not desire to resume practice, bu* wanted to clear his character before hi died. Several applications for reinstate ment had been refused by the Suprem< Court. Probably the committee's find ing will be followed by a bill reinstatiii} him, as in the case of Mr. Meaghcr lasi year. — (A. and X.Z. Cable.)
