BOYCOTT OF PRINCE.

ACTION AGAINST EXTREMISTS. MANS- ARRESTS MADE. (By Cable.-Press Association.—Copyright) (Received 10.30 a.m.) DELHI, December 21. Action is being taken everywhere against extremists, and many members of the proscribed Nationalist Volunteers, with their leaders, were arrested on charges of alleged sedition. A majority of Calcutta university students struck, including missionary colleges. Various vernacular newspapers are being prosecuted for publishing seditious articles or inciting people to join the volunteers. One or two apologised to the Government, including a leading Calcutta extremist newspaper. Everywhere deterrent sentences are being passed. Regarding Calcutta, the sole idea appears to be to ensure that the boycott of the Prince shall be complete, and the propagandists have gone to the extent of fastening placards on stray dogs advocating the boycott. The Government's firm attitude is causing a hostile feeling, not only among extremists, but among certain moderates, and one provincial government decided to abandon its campaign, but it is generally considered that the Government's action is justified. The notorious Moplah leader Chambrasseri has been arrested. This is regarded as an important step in breaking the back of the rebellion. — (A. and N.Z.) = !
