SAILORS' HOME COUNCIL.
At the meeting of the council of the Auckland Sailors' Home last evening, Mr. J. Trevetliick, president. In the chair, the members passed a vote of condolence with the relatives of the late Mr. P. J. Nerheny. The vacancy on the connell eansed by the death ot Mr. Xerheny was filled by the election of Mr. John Burton. Approval was given to an estimate of £600 for carrying out necessary improvements to the building, the work including a new roof at a cost of £300. The average daily number of sailors boarding at the home was reported to he 40. It was decided to provide the usual Christmas cheer for the boarders, and also make n donation towards Captain Bar.eley's fund for entertaining the men attending the mission conducted by the Captain ion behalf of the British 'and Korei.ll .•JSallorf' Society, The council acknowledged j with thanks an acceptable parcel of books sent by Mr. H. 1).
