After discussion, the mover agreed to drop • this motion, end the conference re- ' affirmed the following remit passed by the conference in November last: — "That in order to eliminate political in-: tiuence and promote greater efficiency and economy all railways in course of construction and in prospect be taken over by the-Railway Department, and f that this conference affirm the principle of non-political control."' This was carried without dissent.
