MR. PARR AND THE MOUNT ROSKILL BOARD.
fTo tbe Editor.) Sir, —Referring to the report of a meeting of the Mt. Roskill Road Board in your issue of 20th inst., wherein the board declined (under legal advice) to recognise my claim for a refund of £20 contributed by mc toward certain works in Orakau Avenue, I would like it to he made clear that this demand was made by mc only after repeated requests from members of the present board that 1 should lodge the claim, and a further suggestion from the board's solicitor that the demand should be accompanied by a letter from my solicitor. I acted not at my own desire, but on the distinct request of members of the board, supported by the suggestion of the board's solicitor, and you may judge my surprise at having my flemand repudiated on the ground of the illegality of such a payment. In my own interests, and in those of the ratepayers whose trustees the board arc, an explanation is due. — I am, etc., JOHN PARR.
