Commodore A. 0. Hotham, of H.M.s. Chatham, left by tlic express for Wellington last night. The Conciliation Commissioner. Mr. T. Harle -Giles, arrived in the city from Tauranga this morning. Mr. J. D. Douglas, of Auckland, was in London on September 7, staying at the Bonnington Hotel, Southampton How. Mr. \V. S. Fa.Ha, C.-M.0., of Dunedin, general traffic manager for the Union Steamship Company, is staying at the Grand Hotel. Dr. Sydney Strong, of Seattle. 1.5.A.. who lias been visiting Australia and this Dominion, left by the Niagara yesterday. On September 7 Mr. Jennings, M.P., of New Plymouth, was in London. He will return to New Zealand on the 13th of this month, via Vancouver. Mr. F. W. (lambic, eenior *J,atin master at Auckland Grammar St-hool, has been appointed heudmaster of flic New Grammar at Mt. Albert. Messrs. \V. .1. Holdsworfli jnd T. Bloodworth have 'been elected dnirman | and deputy-chairman respectively of the Hoard of Managers of the Sneddon Memorial Technical College. Sir John Salrnond, who is to represent New Zealand at the Disarmament Conference in Washington, left ■ .by tiie Niagara yesterday. He is accompanied ■by his associate, Sir. J. M. (iairible. The Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. T. Harle Giles) returned to Auckland from Tauranga yesterday. To-morrow he will leave for Whangarei in connection with the Country Licensed Hotel Employees' dispute. Mr. R. H. Boj-d. .postmaster at MorrinsvilVe, is to be transferred a< chief postmaster to the Thames district. Mr. R. Martin, relieving postmaster in this city, is to be postmaster at Palmerston North. At the annual installation of the Masonic Lodge the provincial grand master, Mr. Oliver Nicholson, inducted Mr. Stephen S. Allen, of Morrinsville, into the o/Jiice of assistant provincial grand master. Mr. H. Wauchop. of Ohristchurch. the united president of the New Zealand Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association, will arrive in Auckland on Saturday on an official visit to the Auckland Association. There will be a reception at the clubhouse, Vulcan Lane, on Saturday morning at half-past ten, and Jie will also be entertained in the evening.
