t ——-—— DEVONPORT CLUB. The nnnual meeting of the O-fopP 0 . 1 Amateur Swimming Club will bei held ln Ford's tearooms, Devonport, on lt-ursaa*. evening. In the annual report to be pre- ! sented at the meeting the committee 1 records a succcssfuf season last year, wnen two carnivals were held. The absence of i local baths, necessitating the holding of carnivals in the city, had militated against ! Ihe membership, nnd although the: committee had a credit balance of £80. the i committee advised a determined effort this season to have local municipal baths erei'ted at Devouport and to increase the interest or Devonport swimmers In the club, so that the club's finances might be conserved nnd its sphere of activity extended. The excellent result of the last season's activities had been largely due to generous patronage by donors of trophies, aud while tbe-committee hoped to retain assistance nud* interest from that source, lit looked to the swimmers to provide a ! inemberehlp that would put the club on a j sound and self-reliant basis.
