COLLAPSED REVOLT.
GATHERING THE FRAGMENTS. HARROWING- TALES OF LOOT. <By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) DELHI, September 5. Since the surrender of AH Mohalier, the leader of the rebel Moplahs, who had proclaimed himself Rajah of Malabar, the rebellion appears to be collapsing. Cavalry are scouring the country, and are capturing rebels wholesale. Petty engagements are occurring daily. Refugees are pouring into Calicut with harowing tales of murder and plunder. Further disturbances are reported from Madras. Detachments of the Leinster and Suffolk regiments are parading the streets, and police are scattering handbills containing the announcement that the declaration of martial law is absolutely necessary since the civil government has temporarily collapsed, but the situation ia practically in hand owing to prompt and effective military action.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
