BOXING IN AMERICA.

THE MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE. STILL IN THE BALANCE. (."Received 1.30 p.m.) JERSEY CITY, September 5. The middle-weight boxing title still hangs in the balance. Wilson and Downey fought a no-decision twelveround bout here in an effort to settle tho dispute, but without success. Sporting writers contend that Wilson retaine the title, basing the contention upon the unsupported claim that Wilson knocked oiit Downey in Cleveland. Round by round, to-day's match shows that both men fought a slow battle, and the spectators shouted, "Make it a fight-" Downey appeared to have a shade the advantage in the first, third, fourth, fifth and ninth rounds, while the second, eighth, eleventh and twelfth were even, Wilson possibly having a shade the best of the remainder.— (A. and X.Z. Cable.)
