COAL MINES DISPUTE.
REFERRED TO ARBITRATION. r.YIOX'S INDIFFERENCE. The Conciliation Council met this morning under the presidency of the Conciliation Commissioner. Mr. T. Ilarle <:Ues. u> hear the dispute filed by the Taupiri Coal Mines, Ltd., and the Pukeiniro Collieries. Ltd. The for the coal companies wore Messrs. -Tae. Bishop (Taupiri Coal Minrs. Ltd.). Thos. Thomson (Waipawa Railways and Collieries. Ltd.). and Mr. K. S. Wight (PukemiroCollieries. Lid.) Mr. T. c>. Riehop. secretary of the Coal Mine Owners' Association, appeared as advocate for the coal companies. There I was no apnearanee of assessors for the various tini inrt. Tho commissioner, in opening I he proreedines, pointed out that no artscs-sors I had lieen appointcil by the unions within [the three > leur day's provided by the I.C. and A. Act. and lie had therefore been called upon lo exernise the powers vested in him hy the Act. and had appointed three r.*sos~ors to represent the unions, i.e..
