MINERS AND POLICE.
A SKIRMISH IN VIRGINIA. FIVE MEN KILLED. NEW YORK, August 20. Despite the bclirf that no conflict would occur with the turbulent miners of West Virginia, who sot out to march on Mingo County, as a, protest against the continuance of martial law, a message from Charleston states that a fight occurred between a party of miners and a detachment of State police. Five miners ivere shot dead, and a number arrested. Serious trouble is now expected. (A. and N.Z. Cable.) RENEWAL OF CONFLICT. (Bccdved - \..w) LONDON, August 29. At Logan. V'rginia, fighting - has been resumed between tlie miners and the State forces. Ono was killed and six wounded, while are missing.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
