SUPERINTENDENT OF M.AUtNK RETIRING. Notification was received to-day by the local Superintendent of Marine. ■Capt. 0. E. \V. Fleming, of his retirement on superannuation from the service, Capt. Fleming for the past* sixteen years has hold his position in Auckland, and has won the. esteem of shipping companies and employees for the impartial and sincere manner in \v4wh he has administered the Act. His service dates Jack 2*2 years to ISP!), when he -was appointed loira-1 superintendent at Dunedin. being transferred to this port six years later. The capta-in served his. apprenticeship in the sailing vessels of the Lyle Company. Greotnoek. In. ISS4 he joined t/heVnion (Steamship Company, serving four years and α-liall as ohief ofßoer, and 11 years as master in. that company.
