WHARF ACCIDENT.
Mr. Hubert Blackell. a waterside worker, was struck severely by a loaded sling while engaged yesterday afternoon in unloading coal from the schooner Columbia River, berthed at the Centra! wharf. A considerable quantity of coal fell upon him, and when lie was extricated it whs found that he was suffering from injuries which necessitated bis removal to the hospital. 11. was later reported from this institution thai he was! thought to have received a fracture to the hip aud left ankle, but bis condition gave no cause for ahum. Mr. Rlackctt. who is -II years of ape. is employed by Leonard and Dinyrley, Ltd., and resides in I Snrawai Street, Parnell.
