CADET PRESENTATION.

At the last parade, for the present military year, of the 2Sth Company (Ponsonby) Senior Cadets, held in the Drill Hall, Ponsonby, on Tuesday, May 31, a very pleasing ceremony was performed in the presentation of cups and medals by the commanding officer, "Lieut. M. R. Downey. The company shooting cup, to be held by the cadet who obtains the highest percentage of points in the xangie practice, was won 'by Sergt. Lobley, who obtained 93 points out of a possible 115. In order to encourage "esprit de corps" and enthusiasm in the work to be performed by the cadets, three medals were donated by the N.C.O.'s of the company, for presentation to the cadet who was considered the most efficient in his platoon. Those medals were won respectively by Cadets Kelleher, Turton, and Harper. With the object of promoting a spirit of enthusiasm and. willingness to duty among the N.C.O.'s, the officers of the company donated a cup, which was won by Sergt. Lobley, while Corporal Poekett, who was a close runner-up, was rewarded by a small token given by StafT-Sergt.-Major W. E. Shirley. The proceedings throughout were of a very cordial nature, and marked very fittingly the close of the first year during which the 2Sth Company had been drilling as a separate unit.
