ACTIONS FOR DIVORCE.
BY HALF-CASTE MAORIS. ALLEGATIONS OF MISCONDUCT. At the Supreme Court to-day Mr. Justice Adams and a jury heard further evidence in the ■ '?ross-peti tions for divoyce by two half-caste Maoris. Tn the first case Amelia White, of Whakatane (Mr. Paterson), alleged that the respondent. Prince White, of Tokomaru Bay (Mr. Singer), committed misconduct with her sister, Materoa Lockwood. Tn the counter-petition Prince White alleged that Amelia White had misconducted herself with Topia Mcrito, farmer, Whakatane (Mr. ,T. F. W. Dickson). The co-respondent gave evidence that Mrs. White worked in his. mother's house. He denied that there had been any misconduct, or that ho had attempted to persuade Mrs. White to return to her husband. At this stage Mr. Paterson asked leave to amend the petition so that the date of Prince White's alleged misconduct would read July. 1017, instead of October, 1917. - His Honor adjourned the proceedings for an hofir to allow counsel to quote authorities on the point and to decide whether he could allow the amendment.
