"Your executive (adds the report) are of opinion that a mistake has been -ma.de in removing the embargo on buildings other than homos, many of them not of an urgent character, .vhile the housing conditions of the people are in the shocking state that has been proved by personal investigation by oflicials of the league." "Despite the action of the Government,'' declares the executive, "the house shortage in Well'ngton appears j-irst as acute as it was twelve months ago."
