GERMAN WAR CRIMINALS.
THE FIRST TRIALS. BRITISH WITNESSES AT LEIPZIG. LONDON, April 21. The German submarine commander who sank the hospital ship Dover Castle, and an officer and two men charged with cruelty to British prisoners in German camps, arc among those listed for trial at Leipzig at the end of Jlay. Fifty British witnesses will go to Leipzig to give evidence. Thirteen who are unable to make the journey will bo examined at the Bow Street Court next week.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
In the list of war criminals presented recently. Great Britain demanded the punishment of the commander of U-boat 87, Lieutenant Helm-nth Patzig, for torpedoing the hospital ship Llandovery Castle; the commander of U-boat (17, Lieutenant Xeunian, for torpedoing the hospital ship Dover Castle; the commander of L"-boat 45, Lieutenant Werner, for torpedoing the hospital ship Torrington: Captain Muller, for inhuman.treatment of British prisoners at Flavy le Martel Camp: the N.C.O. Heinze. for a similar crime at Horn Camp; N.C.O. Trinke and Private Neuman, for similar crimes at Pommerensdorf Camp. Italy demanded the punishment of the wellknown U-boat commander, Armand do la Perricre for torpedoing the Italian ships Siena, Dores, and Lilla.
