FIRE AT HAMILTON.

BOARDING-HOUSE BURNED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAJfiLTON. Sunday. St. Elmo Private Hotel, an elevenloomed house, owned and occupied by Mrs. Terry, was destroyed by fire this morning. Soon after 7 a.m. fire was seen coming from a cleaning cupboard en the first floor. The alarm was given, and the occupants made their escape, many of them in their night attire. The Fire Brigade was summoned, but as the hose had to be carried over 1000 ft the building was well alight before water was played upon it. A few articles ot furniture and some personal effects ot the boarders were saved. The house was valued at about £1500. and was insured for £000. The furniture, which was worth about £1000. was not insured.
