WAIKATO WATERWAYS.

MEETING OF COMMISSION". (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The Wwterways Commission, which is to investigate the navigation of the Waikato River and certain canal propositions, in the Auckland district, held ite first meeting in Wellington to-day. The commission was appointed originally in 1914, but its work was interrupted by the war, and is now to be resumed. The members decided to-day that they would not begin active work until after the short session of Parliament. They will then meet in the Auckland district for the taking of evidence. The commission decided that its meetings should •be open to the press.
