USING THE TRIBUNAL.
COMPI-AINTS AS TO PRICES. More and more use is being made of the Auckland Prices Investigation Tribunal in cases where profiteering is alleged. Complaints of the most varied kind are now coining before it for investigation and decision. At the moment there are complaints against i loan company, against a shipping company for overtime charges, against plumbers and drycleaners for alleged overcharges. A prosecution recommended by the Tribunal against city boot dealers is pending. The Tribunal has received word from the Board of Trade that a recommendation to this effect has been agreed to. Two defendants were before the Tribunal to-day to explain allegations against them. One was a country storekeeper who explained his position to the satisfaction of the Tribunal. Another case dealt with involved purchase in the dearest market and yet another concerned the purchase of property, a matter in which the Tribunal loulil not take action. The offices of the Tribunal will be closed to-morrow on the occasion of the holiday."
