A.S.R.S. AND WAGES.
BOARD SITS TO-MORROW. DELEGATE EN ROUTE TO WELLINGTON. Intimation that the Wages Bosrd appointed 'by the Government to go into the claims of the A.S.R.S. for increased wages dating from June would commence its sitting in Wellington tomorrow, was received in the city last evening. The constitution of the Board is as follows:— Mr. G. Elliot (Auckland), chairman: Mr. J McDonald, assistantgeneral manager; Mr. W. Mouat, chief clerk; and Mr. J. McArtney, representing the Department; and >Ir. R. Hampton, president, Mr. J. Mack, secretary, and Mr. R. Moore, an executive member, representing the A.S.R.S. Mr. Moore received an urgent telejjram last evening calling him to the meeting, but was unable to catch last evening's express. He left by to-day's midday express, however, and 1 will arrive in time to be present at the commencement of the proceedings. Tiie same procedure as followed in connection -with the setting up of the previous Wages Board wa3 followed in respect to this Board. The proceedings are private, and the inquiry is strictly limited to the question of wages. The society is asking for an approximate increase of 6/ to the minimum wage of £4 10/ per week. Should the Board fail to reach a settlement the points of difference will come on for further consideration at the triennial conference of the society to be held in the -Southern city during the month of February.
