Tho Italian Cabinet lias approved the bill, drafted last October, providing for •State, control of the metallurgical, textile, chemical, electrical, agricultural, transport, navigation, building, mining, and catering industries, excluding businesses worked by less than 50 employees. The industries named will be worked by committees composed of nine workmen and nine employers elected for three rears, 'flip workmen's committees arc entitled to full information in regard to the business with the exception of trade secrets. Two workers in cacli factory will hfi deputed to keep the workers' committee informed as to matters connected with the business. The manufacturers are already filing protests against the bill. Signor JRi«ri, the new Italian Ambassador to Washington, has announced iiist intention of trying to attract American capital to develop Italy's colossal water-power which offers wonderful opportunities for industries.. The conference of the International Federation of Miners is meeting in London. At the instance of the French and Belgian organisations the ronferencf supported a resolution submitted by the (xcrmsui organisation declaring that the socialisation of the mining industry o( every country is of supreme importance, calling upon workers U> redouble tbeir activity in the course of exploitation o< mines by the community, and asking the public t<) urge upon their respective Governments the need for introducing legislation jrivins; effect to the proposal.— (A. and N.Z.
