COACHING NEEDED.

NEW ZEALAJTO SWIMMERS. HAPHAZARD AICKLA.N PKRS. (By Telegraph.—Special to "S.tar.") CHRISTCnritOH, this day. Miss Bleibtrey, spraking to a ''Star - ' interviewer while sunbathing at New Brighton yesterday, said that New Zealand swimmers, taking them as a whole, are badly in need of coaching. Christchurch swimmers were better than she had seen in other centres. They seem to have a better stroke, and to strive to get a uniform style as in America. In other centres, Auckland, for instance, everybody swims haphazardly and gets along as best he can. "I think from what I have soon so far," said Miss Bleibtrey, "Miss Shand is the best lady swhnmer in New Zealand.' , She thought a race between Miss Shand and Miss Walrond, who represented Now Zealand at the , Olympic (.lames, would be a very close contest, but personally sinwould favour the former, iioth were very good swimmers. Speaking of her experiences at the Olympic Games, Miss Blcibtrey said that tho Belgians were good people to keep away from. On one occasion a party of American lady swimmers wore invited by a club to supper. After the supper the chaperone of the parly was handed a bill and the visitors had to pay for their own supper. Miss Bleibtrey goes to Timaru tomorrow for the day, and then to Australia via Auckland, missing Wellington and Duncdiu. lIFLE SHOOTING. AKAKANA CLUR. OKAWA TEAM DEFEATED.
