LATE CABLES.
(B7 Cable—Press Association—Oopyrt#J«t.) CAPTURE_OF FIUME NOT YET COMPLETED. STORMING MACHINE-GUNS. I (Received 11.30 a.m.) i ROME, December 28. The loyalists are closing in on Fiume. Some reports from Rome state that the ] regulars already occupy the town. There has been considerable 'bloodehed, mostly around the barricades of barbed wire and ' fortified houses, where the insurgents ! made determined stands, while the! loyalists were hampered by Sognor j Giolitti's request to avoid unnecessary ■ bloodshed, and were compelled to etorin maehine-gTins at the point of the bayonet. Had they been allowed to use' artillery they would have taken the town in a few hours, for they had overwhelming numbers.—(United Service.)
