AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB.

OPENING DAY'S RACING TROTTING CUP AND DERBY, The Auckland summer racing carnival will be advanced another stagii tomorrow, Tuesday, when the Auckland Trotting Club will commence their big fixture. Since last season the club's course at Kpsoni lias been completely transformed, and accommodation is now available for a very large crowd to view the racing in every comfort. The race track is also in first-class order, and the sport should be of a very high standard. Lord Jellicoe has accepted the invitation of the club to be present, and altogether a record fixture seems assured. The principal event of the day, the Auckland Trotting Cup, carries a stake of 200030V5, which makes it of equal value to the New Zealand Cup run at Riccarton, and has attracted a very large acceptance, the class engaged being considerably above the ordinary. Alan o' War, which is 84yds back, is the ruling favourite, and his recent form entitles him to the position, but he will have to be at his best to concede the handicaps ho is called on to do. Gold Boy, the only straight-out trotter enpraged, has a lot of friends, but it will be a good betting race and a spirited contest. Second only in interest to the Trotting Cup is the ' Great Northern Trotting Derby, in which the locally-owned Oto will oppose the Southern cracks. The opposition to the Aucklander is very strong, Nelson Derby, Childe Pointer, Sir Henry, Avenue, and Wild Thyme all showing good form. The minor events ftave filled exceptionally well, and *a /lothing stands out in the handicaps speculation should be very. even. Racing starts earlier than usual, the horses for the first race requiring to bo in the birdcage at 11.30 a.m., the first event starting at 11.45 a.m. The acceptances are:— Introductory TTnndlcap. of 2."!Osots, 1} mile.—Oiiavn, Norland.
