When the barrier lifted the tapes did not ' go up fast on one side, but they all got clear, Aircraft and Formalin being quickest to begin, but when they settled down Night Time and Tresor were out making the running, leading along the back and across the top, where Clonnlel had run up third, and ' then in order came Ileathermoon, Hyrax. Prince Menschlkoff, Lovellght. and Formalin, with tbe others bunched, Tlnohoro being most prominent. Night Time and Tresor were still well clear as they came round the I home turn, where the second division closed up, and as they straightened up for the final | struggle Clonmel, Ileathermoon. Hyrax, ; Lovellght. and Tlnohoro all got Into the fighting line. Inside the distance Lovellght ; got his head in front, then Tlnohoro challenged, and the pair had an exciting duel, ' Lovellght staying the longer, and getting the decision by a neck. Hyrax got third, a length away, just In front of Clonmel; and then came Formalin. War Tank. Night Time and Ileathermoon, the last pair being Prince j Menschlkoff and Marble Bell. Going along the back Blue Cross was still setting the pace, with Gasbag and Prince Willonyx together, and Uncle ' Ned, First Salute, Tenterfleld, Woody Glen, I | Red Ribbon. Once headed for the post, Blue Cross faded away, and Gasbag momentarily showed in front, only to be immediately challenged by First Salute, next the 4Mls, and Starland. on tbe outside, and a great finish resulted, Starland finishing well and getting the verdict by a neck from First : Salute, which was a head In front of Gasbag.
