FARMERS' BUTTER.
TOOR CHANCE OF SUBSIDY. (By TclesTiiT>li.--I'ros'« A«wlntlon.) WELLINGTON, this day. The demand for payment of the ' subsidy on farm-made 'butter is still receiving the intention of the Agricultural Department. The authorities recognise that the farmers concerned I 1 have a grievance, hut say that the - I devising of a scheme to meet the case 1 is not easy. It is pointed out that farm i butter is not graded, that it is sold in ' small quantities through very many I channels, that its quality varies widely, and that payment of subsidy would t involve a very elaborate system of : accounts and checks. No scheme that is regarded as practical has yet been suggested.
