Mr. W. R. Holmes left for the south by last night's express. Mr. C. E. MacCormick, Judge of the Native Land Court, has returned from a visit to England. Professor J. MacMillan Brown arrived in Auckland by the Hororata from the Eastern Pacific. •Mr. J. H. Kingston, manager of the Auckland branch of the South British Insurance Company, has returned from a visit to Sydney. The Rev. Father James White, Bishop Elect of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dunedin, aud Bishop Carroll, of Lismore, Xew South Wales, arrived at Wellington by the Manuka from Sydney. Mr. A. N. Sneddon, manager for Ross and Glendining, who left some months ago for Honolulu for the benefit of his health, has benefited greatly by the change, and is expected back early next January. * The Returned Soldiers' Association resolved to forward a letter of condolence to the widow of the late Rev. J. R Burgin. and to place on record appreciation oi his service to returned men. Bishop Averill also expressed regret at the 'welcome tendered in St. Mary's Parish Hall last night, that his dear friend Mr. Burgin had died during his absence.
