A dispute occurred at Lyttelton today through a demand by the men that they be paid twopence an hour extra tor unloading the Ngatoro's coal cargo, which had been used as ballast while the vessel made three trips carrying live stock. A meeting of the local Dispute? Committee was called to coneider the matter, but following the procedure adopted at Wellington it refused to adjudicate except on the understanding that the men would commence work beforehand. The men would not agree to this proposal, however, with the result that no work was done on tUe j vessel.
