MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
Mount Welcome.—At the low level the cross vein was 9in in width, but narrowed to about 3in. It is more compact owing to being squeezed by the tight nature of the rock. The hanging-wall is well defined, and the footwall country everything that can be desired. At the intermediate level a change has come in. The country is full of mineral seams, and apparently entering what is termed the Golden Channel.
Golden Belt.—At the intermediate level the stope off the north rise is producing payable ore, and some nice sulphide ore can tie seen in the reef overhead. Another 12 tons of quartz has been sent to the battery. The 1- tons sent to the mill last week hns been crushed, and is of a payable quality.
Evening 'Star. —The No. 1 winze on the Waiotaui-Canibria reef is now down 6ft below the drive. The total width of reef exposed is 4ft. The hungmgwall is not showing. The quartz is carrying good mineral indications, and colonrs of gold were seen during tbe week. The Evening Star crosscut is now out 57ft, and water is still issuing from the lace. A lode was Intersected to-day, and is showing some very nice minerals.
Nonpareil.—A total distance of 70ft has been driven to cut the Queensland reef. The ground is still of a hard nature, tout a little water Is coming out of the face. In the West Coast section the low level has been cleaned out a distance of 230 ft, timber and rails laid, and everything now is In working order to start driving on the reef next week.
