Approval of Loans.—The treasurer reported that the £10.000 loan for mads had l>een authorised, and in connection with the application for the £J(>.(X»> loan Tor drainage lie reported that the matter was under consideration.

Mount Smart.—The One-tree Will Rond Board eonrplatned of the damage to the roads in tJhat district by abnormal traffic In carting Fcorln from Mount (Smart pit and suggested the Imposition of a Kmall toll or royalty on scoria sold privately. Tlie Board further asked for an assurance from the <\nuu'il that tbe annual license issued to the Board for the rlgbt tn take scoria from this pit will be renewed from year to year for ten years owing to the Board's large expenditure in opening a workable pit at Mount Smart. It was agreed to give the nseuranoe asked for. No action was taken with regard to the other requests.

The Motor Menace.—A number of letters vrere dealt with, and the proposal fo put up notice boards warnins tramway motormen and motorists to slow down vma brought forward. Members stated that teachers of the 'Mount Albert School were to be commended for the attention they pay to the little ones. Some of the infant teachers often go <rat after school to see the children safely across the road.
