HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER.
TE AWAMUTU BOARD. The Te Awamutu Electric Power Board considered tenders for various electrical materials, and contracts were entered into involving the sum of £12,724, which included transformers, covered wire and cables, meters, insulators, street lighting equipment, and plugfuse cut outs. The manager, Mr. D. McArthur, reported that 1000 of the hardwood poles "had been delivered. It was decided to support the representations of the Auckland Employers' Association that wiremen should, be licensed over the whole Dominion instead of holding licenses under each separate local authority. It was decided to advise the Public Works Department of the arrangements which had been entered into, and the procedure which was being followed of the board. The works committee reported on the building proposals, which included the erection of cottages, barracks for single men, and a storeroom. The engineer's report indicated that Te Awamutu borough is to be reticulated first, and that the cables will then extend into the Paterangi, Ohaupo and Pirongia districts, thus completing the circuits over the northern portion of the board's territory.
