THE ANGLICAN SYNOD.

ANNUAL SESSIONS. The Auckland Diocesan Anglican Synod commenced its business sessions on Friday afternoon. Yen. Archdeacon Mac Murray presided. The Teport of the Standing Committee was taken. The Home Mission Fund showed a debit of £445, the County Clergy Fund had advanced to £862. The payment of stipends through the Diocesan office was a good system. The Standing Committee had placed £300 at the disposal of the Bishop to defray expenses -of clergymen he may bring from England. A 'bequest of £500 had been received from the late Mies Tutin to assist the clergyman who ministered in the church of St. Michael, at Hakaru. Tie General Trust Board reported the fallowing gifta of land: — Section of 34 perchee, at Takapuna Parish, from Mr. H. Brett, for the benefit of St. Peter's Church, and for church purposes generally; section of one rood ait Horotiu, from Mr. C. Duxfield, tor a church siie; section of one. acre at Karaka, from Messrs. A. Yates \nd Company, for a church site; section of three acres at Kaihu* from Raniera Te Rore. for church purposes. ...... The Board also reported that there were 74 Maori boye at St. Stephen's and 50 Maori girls at the Queen Victoria School. Miss Brereton was appointed head mistrese, vice Miss R. O. Andrews. St. John's College trustees notified good progress with the erection of new buildings. Canon P. T. Williams had been-appointed warden for five years, and there were six students in residence. The number of members of the, Melaneeian Mission Trust Board wis increased from five to seven. During the evening session accounts were discussed at some length. j
