Uproarious scenes occurred at th* Independent Socialist Congress at Halle during an address by Zinovien",the Soviet Government" emissary, who announced that the Soviet was prepared to negotiate with its German comrade.-, and was able and willing financially to support the German proletariat. Zinovieff predicted that it would require a generation to accomplish universal communism, which would entail the mobilisation of tire Asiatic nations, who must be freed from religious tradition, after which a holy war must be waged on capitalism. After a five-hour speech by Zinovieff. the more moderate section seceded from the extremists. Hilferding, a C.erraan Socialist, replying, taunted Zinovieff with the Russian alliance vVth Knver .Pasha. 'He thought Zinovieff might have spoken more clearly about terrorism. — (Tfeuier).
