AN TJNCONQUERED PEAK. (■Received 11 a.m.) DELHI, October 17. Mr. Haibuni, author of "Mountaineering as an Art," and Mr. Crawford, both members of the Alpine Club of London, have returned from Darjeeling after an attempt to explore Kinchinjanga, a , Himalayan peak, 28,170 ft, between Sikj kin and Nepal. They attacked Kinchin- ' janga from the south-west, exploring the glaciers. To reach the summit from this direction they found impossible, no i greater height than 20,000 feet being . attained. The return journey was made lin a blinding snowstorm, through a new ! puss 18,000 feet high.—(A. and N.Z.)
