CARPENTIER-LEVINSKY FIGHT
ALLEGATIONS OF FAKE. INQUIRY TO BE HELD. (Received 8.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, October 15. The New Jersey State Boxing Commission has tentatively decided to investigate tile Carpentier-Levineky fight to quiet the rumours published in New York newspapers alleging that the bout was faked. Caxpenticr indignantly denies the insinuation, asks for a square deal, and pledgee hig honour Rβ a soldier of France that he fought to the best of his ability. Levinsky has also issued a statement denying that the match was "fixed." He sai<j that he never recovered from a. blow in the second round. The New Jersey Boxing Commission believes that the fight was fair, but is desirous of giving those making'insinuations the opportunity to submit evidence, if they have any. The New York State Boxing Commission lias granted Carpentier a license to box in this State. (A. arid N.Z. Cable.)
