EXPLOSION ON A TANKER.
5 KILLED, 46 INJURED. FIREMEN'S GOOD "SAVE." (Received 10 a.m.) . N.EW YORK, October 8. A verified account of the explosion on the oil tanker Crowe shows that live were killed, six seriously injured, and forty slightly injured. A terrific explosion occurred in the oil vapours in the hold. Several hundred iron workers who are making repaire to the Crowe were imperilled, and six large steamers lying nearby were endangered, but the firemen's remarkable work prevented serious damage, ac well as greater loss of life.— (A. and K.Z.
