GERMAN REPARATION.
BRITISH NOTE TO FRANCE. CONGRESS OF EXPERTS. (By Cable—Press Association— Copyright.) (Received n a.m.) PARIS, October S. The "Echo de Paris'' states that the Oroverhment received on Wednesday a most important Note from the British Cabinet with reference to the German reparations. Earl Curzon recalled in this Note the decision of the Spa Congross to hold a meeting at Geneva on Vu-ruPt 8, despite which France rejected Britain's proposal to open financial discussions on September --i. Earl Curzon insists on a convocation of a conference of technical experts in accordance with the Spa decision, and suggests that an" international congress be held subsequently in order to translate into a definite convention the proposals arising from, the experts' conference. — (A. and N.Z. Cable.) POSITION OF FRANCE. NO DIRECT NEGOTIATIONS. PAKIS, October S. Tt is' officially stated that no direct negotiations are proceeding between France and Germany on the subject of reparations, which is a matter for all the Allies. 'Hie Paris correspondent of the -Daily Telegraph" states that there is no truth in the report that c'.ireet negotiations have commenced between France nml Germany, though it is true that there have been conversations at the Financial Conference at Brussels to settle the problem of reparations. There is no idea of France abandoning the Geneva Conference, though M. Miltermid is likely to require more formal guarantee*'from Britain and the other Allies than lip has thus far received, before he goes to Geneva. M. Millennia considers that an agreement among the Allies, implying eventual use of military sanctions, is an essential preliminary to the Geneva Conference.—(A. and N.Z.)
