KAURl.—Captain Roulaire in 1874 proposed to let the waters of the Gulf of 'Cabcs into an area of 3400 square 1 miles to the south of Algeria and. Tunis, whore it would form a eea close on 80 feet deep. To effect this a ridge 13 mUes wide and 150 feet liigh would require to be cut through.
