THE FOOT-FAULT RULE.
AN AMENDMENT NECESSARY. (Received l-'.M p.m.) LONDON, October ". Mr. Alfred Crawley, writing in the ••Observer," announces the intention of the governing body of the Tennis Association to revise the laws of the game en bloc. The principal alteration concerns foot faults. He save in principle there is nothing wrong, but in practice it is very ditfieult for the linesman to say •whether the server's foot is over the line -before ho lute the ball, and it is quite impossible for the umpire who decides in the absence of linesmen. The Association proposes that a server raising one foot from the ground must replace it behind the base line.— (United Service.)
