I . " BAKEHOUSE AND STOCK i, DESTROYED. c OCCUPANT LOSES HEAVILY. I, The serenity of last night was disr turbed in the Mt. Albert district by the c clang of the local firebel!, and an accom- .-, panying fire that destroyed a bakehouse g in New North Road, owned by Mr. J. .>, Phillips, Mt. Albert, nnd occupied by r ' Mr. K. Davis. Some passers-by noticed •- j the conflagration, and immediately !- sent a message out via the bell, but if unfortunately through it being separated if from the Mt. Albert Fire Brigade i- Station by about two miles, the firei- fighters at that establishment did not tr hear the bell. They saw IV outbreak, " however, and were just setting out for y the locality, when a confirming tele,e phone message gave them the exact y locality. The flames made short work i- of the building, a two-storey wooden n structure, and with it the stock, but good -work by the brigade paved the V stables and the horses, at the rear. jf which were seriously threatened, and id the residence next door., c- Mr. Davies is a heavy loser, the desif troyed stock, valued at Hjiproximniely >r £200, being uninsured.
