STREET RIOTS IN BAGDAD. MILITARY SWEEP THE TOWN. (Keceived 1 p.m.) DELHI, August 16. The authorities at Bagdad sent parties J to tho homes of a number of extremists who were blamed for the recent trouble ( on the Euphrates and for a flopd of ( proimganda. The police failed to effect arr—*T3 owing to the action of crowds, who also fired, on reserves lending the j police assistance. Eventually nine men j were arrested. The rioters lost Bix men kiUed and twelve wounded_ ) Later, a company of the Bhopal • Infantry arrived and Bwept the town , from end to end. , No further disturbances occurred, and the town is now quiet. The military are taking precautions against further outbreaks. — (A. and N.Z. Cable.) Bagdad advices fetate that the situation on the 15th inst. between Hillah and Bagdad had improved. Our forces occupied Museyio on the 14th, and the Hindiyah barrage on the 15th, thus restoring < the situation in this area.
