WHITE PATCH ON MARS. I.OXDON". August 12. The Paris correspondent of the "Evening Kews" says that a great white patch, apparently by a snowplain, hae been seen near the Martian tropics, and is excitinjT French astronomers. Some are reviving the old theory of Martfan sijmals. Others question the possibility of a fall of snow during the Martian midsumm-r. M. ( amille Flammarion. the notpd French astronomer, suggests the edstencp of a lofty desert plateau, similar to Tibet.
